“ This Quaint Hidden Gem in Downtown La Puente Authentic Mexican Dishes are Super Tasty Agua Frescas are refreshing Excellent Customer Service Satisfaction, very sanitary ”
“ This was my review from 2017 ... Great local authentic eatery. It has been open since the 70s, cozy and great value (Great food at relatively cheap prices). I go there at least once a week Updating Feb 2020... fresh hand made tortillas on weekends! They are like little paddies and taste phenomenal. Picture below Updating in August 2019.. New owner taking over retiring owner. This is very exciting because of the history the new owner brings. For those who lived in West LA during the last 30 years, there was a great eatery called Cafe Brazil in Culver City. When my business partner who lives in Venice found this out, he was completely estatic and came over immediately to try it out.. and he was not disappointed. The new owner was the chef at Cafe Brazil, and then he went to join the Four Seasons Beverly Hill kitchen staff. This is very serendipitous in the best way possible.. to get a chef of this caliber in SGV, and specifically in La Puente. I've been dining at Cortes for six years, and know the outgoing owner well. His food and recipe is some of the best home style comfort food you can find. The new owner is keeping the existing menu and upgrading with his own creations. I included a picture of the special vegan plate they made for us. I had the garlic linguini w grilled chicken last week and it was fantastic. My wife also loved it (and finished what was supposed to be my lunch next day..lol). I work around the corner and have lunch here 2-3 times per week. Today I'm trying the grilled chicken lunch with salad and a side of beans (10.99), a couple days ago I had the street tacos special for Monday (1.09ea).. no kidding the best deal in town for sure. I hope all surrounding locals in LP, industry and Hacienda Heights try this for themselves. They offer Uber eats and other delivery services.. we owe it to ourselves to have a great eatery like this in our area. ”
“ Very good MENUDO offered daily. They also serve with hand made tortillas. Home style Mexican cooking with seasoned cooks. Place has been recently renovated and feels clean. They also have new air conditioning unit to enjoy nice Mexican meal on a hot day in La Puente. ”
“ I love the food here, the staff is very friendly, the prices are good, the portions are just right, and you can pay with zelle, what's not to like?? I've eaten here 5 times since the first time I came to them out ”
“ Great spot to go to. Low key hole in the wall. Very clean and small place but nice inside. Food was delicious and staff was friendly. Enjoyed the food and the prices ”
“ Wonderful little hole in the wall joint. Really good Mexican food. Taste like home made Mexican food. Not in the greatest area but we'll worth the trip to eat here. ”
“ It's a small little place that does great tacos, burritos and a good variety of Mexican food. The fish cerviche on taco dish was really tasty and refreshing. Menudo soup was overly pungent for me but taste was actually very good. Definitely worth a visit. ”
